A Melody Unknown

You waltzed into my life and danced with my soul
Tangoed with my heart to a melody unknown
We moved and touched and swayed all around
Composing love to each other without making a sound

The dance floor is open and empty and pure
Allowing us to grow and learn and be sure
That everything we wanted in life and beyond
Would solidify our passion our desire and bond

For in this life we have but one time to dance
With the one who stole our heart by chance
Take them by the hand and lead them to the floor
Before the music stops and you're alone forever more.

Day Surrenders To Night

Why do you stand in the back of my mind
Fading away with the sands of time
I close my eyes and you're all I see
Whispers of what was once you and me

Memories fade from black to white
Leaving scars of what always seemed right
Painful thoughts of what could have been
If you had only just let me in

I think of all the years we've lost
Riding along the waves and tossed
I think of the long journey that was ours
Never having an end of days or hours

But the day surrendered to night

What will become of this heart of mine
How will it stand the test of time
Will it always have a beat for you
Even when there is someone new

How on earth will I love again
When deep inside there's so much pain
When will the beat of my broken heart
Start pounding in me the will to start

For on the horizon the sun does shine
Brighter and brighter with the hands of time

With All My Might

Why do I close my eyes
When your lips are pressed against mine?
Who am I afraid to see
When I know it's you kissing me?

Standing alone with you and my thoughts
Battling all my fears and wants.
Clinging to that which is good and right
Tightly gripping with all my might.

Stopping to take in some winter air
Wondering if this is all we can bare.
Wiping the tears from your desperate eyes
As if we have just said our last goodbyes.

No one knows the pain we're in
Unless they've traveled the places we have been.
Hitting the wall of love and war.
Batteling the demons of life and more.

What will we do to let this be?
A harmonious life of you and me.
Walking together with hand in hand.
Leaning on each other to help us stand.

The choice is there to set us free.
Life alone or you and me.
Not sure of what will come of this.
So just close your eyes and finish our kiss.

The Open Road

I was walking down the lonely road
Passing signs that read "You're not alone."
I turned around to look and see
But the only one I see is me.

I turned to walk awhile more.
Not knowing what lay ahead in store.
Hanging my head down low.
For I hadn't a desire to know.

Rain falling on the ground.
Was all the noise I had around.
Until I heard that sweet sound of your voice.
Guiding me onward as if I had no choice.

Why am I fearful of letting go?
I asked as I really want to know.
"Walk with me and you will see.
I will lead you to where you need to be."

"Go with faith and your head up high.
There will be times of sorrow and fright.
And although its a long and winding road
I promise you will never be alone."

Words of comfort most in need
Brought hope to my troubled heart indeed.
Breaking free of the cage I'm in.
Gaining strength from where I've been.

I walk down the open road
Obeying the signs of where to go.
And although I feel lost and unaware
I know I will most assuredly get there.

Kissing A Ghost Kissing A Fool

What a clod he must have been.
Seems to happen to him again and again.
Spinning his world around and around.
Getting beaten when he is down.

Love crept it's way back into his life.
It whistled and called and all seemed right.
He felt so alive. The air was clear.
He felt it always. Whether far or near.

Then the heart on his hand faded away.
And what took months to get was gone in a day.
Her laugh. Her smile. He will miss the most.
But all he was doing was kissing a ghost.

Her eyes are dry and burning red.
Angry about the lies she was once fed.
Swearing and cursing that she is alone.
Wondering if what she had is gone.

Love whispered through her window.
And It frightened her to know.
Doubt crept in. Wondered if it's right.
Trust crept out. That thief of the night.

And what she wanted was gone that way.
Wishing and praying it would always stay.
And those feelings to her were exciting and new.
But all she was doing was kissing a fool.

When The Clouds Cover The Moon

Do you elude me or are you just a myth?
All around I feel your presence.
Yet I am alone in the dark.
Questioning my own existence.

In the cold you scream my name.
Waiving your hands to break my stare.
Is it you that cannot speak?
Or is it I that cannot hear?

Softly you whisper to me.
And for a moment in time I died.
In that realm of peaceful tranquility
My heart opened to the light.

And the wind blew.
And the sea crashed.
And fire fell from the sky.
Nothing in life is ever the same.
When the clouds cover the moon.

Awakened to my vision of you.
Your heart already known.
Picking up the pieces of life.
Reaping what I have sown.

I wonder how it all can be.
This feeling deep inside.
My seemingly endless journey ends.

The little things we do and say

Fearing not the end of day.

Filling empty spaces
With empty things
